Eligibility and entry restrictions

The Totnes Maps competition is open to all except employees of the Totnes Heritage Trust and St Mary’s Church, their families, agents or any third party directly associated with administration of the winner selection/prize draw.

 

Entrants under 18 must have consent from their parent(s) or legal guardian(s) before entering. The parent(s) or legal guardian(s) of entrants under 18 agree to these Terms and Conditions on behalf of the entrant. By submitting your artwork to the competition you or your parent or guardian agree to these terms and conditions.

Multiple entries per person are permitted.

Multiple entries per person are permitted with the condition that each entry be accompanied by its own separate Entry Form and donation to the St Mary's Heritage trust. On entering, you confirm that you are eligible to do so and eligible to claim any prize you may win. For entrants under 18 years of age, you must provide the name and contact telephone number/email address of your parent or guardian. We will only use this information in relation to the Competition (including checking your eligibility to enter it) and will not use it for any other purposes whatsoever. We will not keep this information for longer than is necessary for the operation of the Competition.

Start and closing dates

The competition opens on 17 October 2019 and closes 20 November 2019. Any entries received before the opening or after the closing of the competition will be invalid and will not be entered into the competition.

No responsibility can be accepted for entries not received for whatever reason.

​

Entry into the competition will be deemed as acceptance of all of these terms and conditions.

​

Picking the winners

Judging will commence on 21 November 2019 and winners will be announced on 30 November 2019. The panel of judges will be composed of 5 members.

​

The decision of competition officials in respect of all matters to do with the competition will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.

​

The competition and these terms and conditions will be governed by English law and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England.

​

Winners and prizes

Prizes are:

  • 17+ Winners – £100 for each of the three categories of competition 

  • 12-16 Winners – £100 for each of the three categories of competition 

  • 7-11 Winners – £ 50 for each of the three categories of competition 

​

Runner up prizes will also be awarded. The value of the awards will be announced as soon as they are established.

​

The judges will attempt to notify winners by email or phone. In addition, competition results will be posted on the www.totnesmaps.net website and possibly announced via local Totnes media outlets.

Presentation of awards will take place on Tuesday 3 December 2019 at the Totnes Christmas Festival.

Copyright and moral rights

You warrant to us that you created your competition entries, that you own all of the copyright in those entries, and that our use of the entries in accordance with these rules will not infringe any person's intellectual property rights or other legal rights.

​

You grant to us an exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual and irrevocable licence to copy, store, edit, distribute, transmit and publish your competition entries. 

​

What happens to entries?

Competition entries will retained after the competition and photographed for possible inclusion in a book or booklet commemorating the event.  Competition officials will make every attempt to return artwork once publicity requirements have been satisfied. Please, therefore, If at all possible it might be wise to keep a copy of your competition entries.

​

Publicity

As mentioned above, competition officials may undertake publicity activities relating to competitions and prize awards. The winners therefore agree to the use of their name, photograph and disclosure of town or region of residence in any post-prize-winning publicity.
